Complex Regulatory Work

I haven’t posted for a while as I have been on the road around the country representing clients. One recent case of note was representing a company charged with breaches of the Housing Act 2004 whilst also representing the directors of the company in related proceedings. The case involved analysis of what a House in Multiple Occupancy is and the ambit and scope of the defence of “reasonable excuse” in the context of not knowing that the property was a licensable HMO.
