I must have prosecuted and defended hundreds of criminal cases over the years. I lost count a long time ago. Having spent over three years at the CPS I have a unique insight into how this organisation functions. In additon, having both defended and prosecuted you naturally obtain a far better level of balance in the way you approach a case. I hope this is passed on through realistic advice to clients. I would like to see all young lawyers spend time working on both sides at least at the beginning of their career.
