I thought I would post a lovely email I received from a client’s mother last week. I think it was Oscar Wilde who said “I can live off a compliment for a month”.
Dear Julian,
I was relieved and delighted when my daughter relayed to me the decision of the court. She has thankfully not been disqualified. When I first spoke to you and asked for your advice. You were extremely helpful, listened carefully and got to the heart of matter very quickly and succinctly. You were approachable, generous with your time, and very much the modern practitioner without a hint of haughtiness or condescension. This is important. People who ring you are “in trouble” and if their licence is at risk their livelihood is in jeopardy. They need your no nonsense assistance and I applaud the service you offer which was superior to any of the solicitors who offered limited free advice Over the phone and (I felt) much better value. They need the clear thinking, razor sharp analysis of what will achieve the best outcome in our sometimes less than fair and contorted legal system. I am also impressed that we now have a ‘free market’ approach and persons can contact a barrister direct as I did with you….So to conclude – good luck to you in your career – but actually you don’t need it – with your skills and ability I have no doubt you will be highly successful and hopefully deservedly well rewarded later. ..To conclude.
